In Basilicata, there is a wonderful stretch of coastline of only 30 kilometers overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The gem of this area is Maratea, a place of unspoiled beauty characterized by rocky cliffs and hidden caves, as well as fine sandy beaches alternating with pebble beaches, including the famous Black Beach of Maratea, known for the dark color of its sand, and the renowned marina.

 

A Kayaking Adventure: Two-Hour Tour among Caves and Tunnels

 

With a two-hour kayak tour, you will have the opportunity to experience the magic of exploring coves and tunnels accessible only by sea. Accompanied by experienced instructors, you will visit four caves starting from the charming Port of Maratea or the Black Beach.

 

How It Works

 

After meeting up, the guide will hold a brief briefing on how to best use the kayak. Then, you will set out to discover the caves, including the Cave of the Kiss, the Cave of Giorgio, and the Cave of the Sciabella, where you can enter directly by kayak or swimming. During the excursion, we will leave the canoes in the natural coves and on the Caribbean-flavored beaches, and we will swim at I Vranne Beach, a strip of fine and clear sand reachable only by sea, often chosen by loggerhead sea turtles for nesting.

Meeting and Briefing

The guide will give a short briefing to the participants, providing information on how to best use the kayak, safety measures to follow, and an overview of the itinerary.

Exploring the Caves

Set out on the tour and discover the caves: Grotta del Bacio, Grotta di Giorgio, Grotta della Sciabella. Participants will get on the kayaks and start paddling, following the guide.

Natural Inlets and Vranne Beach

Here you can leave the kayak and take a break to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and swim.

Return to the meeting point

After a relaxing stop, we will paddle back to the starting point, enjoying the wonderful coastal landscape once again.

Useful information

Cancellation Policy: Possible cancellation without penalties up to 2 days before the tour departure. A penalty of 50% applies for cancellations up to 24 hours before the tour.

Cancellation Policy in Case of Bad Weather: In the event of adverse weather conditions that make the tour dangerous or impossible, we reserve the right to cancel the excursion. In such circumstances, we will fully refund the ticket cost.

Time and Emergency Contact: In case of tour postponement to the following day, the meeting time will be specified, and an emergency contact number will be provided for additional assistance during the period of bad weather or rescheduling of the tour booking.

On a single open canoe, up to 4 people can fit: 2 adults and two children, subject to availability and verification of participants' height.
